Revisiting the Trapper's Shack

I have never seen the "Lost Trapper's Shack" on the banks of Ash Creek in full Summer foliage. I wondered if the spectacular view of the valley and beaver ponds below, and the expansive view of the southeast contours of the Porcupine Mountains would be still visible. It certainly wasn't the case. If fact, the shack itself wasn't visible until I was practically on top of it.
All I could see were trees. There was just a hint of the big valley far below.
The interior was much the same, with the tiny woodstove and few utensils. It looked like a bear had torn the entrance door open, but he did no cooking, and did not make use of the cot.
This is the view out the front door. A few more steps beyond it , and you're tumbling down the valley toward Ash Creek!
This demonstrates how small the shack really is. You have to step down to get all the way in. I like the old shovel head that likely was left there when the place was built. There are two of them in the vicinity..
If you want to try tro find the Trappper's Shack, You need to travel about two miles up the "Gaines Road" (south) from Hwy 107 (inquire locally). Its GPS coordinates are 301727E, 5185708N

A Moonlit Night

A warm, still, moonlit night gave compelling reason to visit the Lake Of the Clouds
Escarpment.
Some fog had started to form at the quieter end of the lake.
Still and quiet along the Escarpment. A bit stormy at Union Bay.
