Ice Skating on Lake Of The Clouds

Once again, a rare opportunity for adventure presented itself: Lake Of The Clouds was somewhat frozen with no snow on its surface. Perfect for some ice skating. Sara, Jim, Cosmo and I decided to give it a try. Cosmo demonstrates his superior intelligence and decided to head for shore to avoid danger on the thin ice.
After a bit of high tension, we concluded that staying on the more mature ice on the left side of this seam was safer for skating.
Places like this made us nervous to skate near. It's hard to say just how these ominous dendritic weak spots form.
Sara finally gets brave and takes a spin.
But she always kept the rope handy in case anyone fell in.
For a couple brief moments the sun broke through the clouds to make the cliffs come alive. Shortly afterwards we changed back into our boots for the icy climb back up to the parking lot.
