Summer & Autumn 1998

Fire On The Water

On the evening of August 23, a tremendous storm lingered over Lake Superior. I huddled on the beach for over an hour, dazzled by the blazing light show and photographing the storm's fury. When the wind and rain came ashore, I realized I hadn't brought a flashlight to find my way back to the car. The frequent flashes guided me sufficiently before I got totally soaked.

An Incredible Autumn

The autumn of 1998 was short, but spectacular. The weather was fair, and the colors brilliant. I enjoyed a Sunday afternoon on Cloud Peak in the Porcupine Mountains, overlooking the Upper Carp River, shown above. The image below is on Forest Road 400 in the Ottawa National Forest, northeast of Bergland in the Norwich area.
